STORY THEATER COMPANY PRESENTS “THE TALE OF SNOW WHITE”
AMES, IA, OCTOBER, 2013: Prepare for a new spin on a classic tale as Story Theater Company of Ames presents “The Tale of Snow White” by Barbara Lennon, November 1-10, 2013 sponsored by Body – Mind – Spirit Massage Studio of Ames.
This adaptation of the classic tale introduces several new characters, but also features many of your all-time favorites: Snow White, The Seven Dwarves, the Evil Queen, Prince Charming and the Magic Mirror all make appearances. Audiences of all ages will laugh along with the Seven Dwarves and the limerick-twisting ladies-in-waiting. Plus, you never know when a DNR agent will make an appearance!
Matilda Hogan, one of the Ladies-In-Waiting helps explain the show by saying, “Pretty much it’s kind of a fairy tale mix-up, so you have some real life things yet things from the fairy tale, too, so you never really know what’s going to happen. And it also had a lot of rhythm.”
Director Kiersten Naberhaus adds “It’s not just the straight tale of Snow White like the Grimm Brothers’ version. There are different plot lines. It doesn’t just tell the story of Snow White.” Kivan Kirk, stage manager, also adds “Each story can mean something so different for different people. Allison Weiler, Snow White, is certain kids will “enjoy the humor and the characters.” She explains “little kids will really like it since it’s not that scary.”
Performances will be held at 7 pm on November 1 and 8 with matinee performances at 2 pm on November 2, 3, 9, and 10. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Ames Community Gym at City Hall or from any cast or crew member. All advance tickets are $6 each for children and adults and may be used for any single performance. Tickets will be available at the door at a price of $8 for adults and $6 for children and students.
